DEVELOPING STORY: Major flooding has already been reported in Key West, Florida as Hurricane Ian makes its way into the Gulf of Mexico. Videos, which you can watch below, show water waist-deep across parts of the island. The storm surge hit well before high tide causing many residents to scramble to find dry land. The National Weather Service issued a storm surge warning and they have increased their numbers. Forecasters now expect a storm surge of up to five feet. There are reports of waves measuring 25-feet tall near Key West. They’ve already recorded the third highest storm surge since 1913.
