Ophelia Brings Major Flooding, Wind Damage From North Carolina to New Jersey

DEVELOPING STORY: There is major flooding and significant wind damage from along the eastern seaboard as Tropical Storm Ophelia made landfall in North Carolina. The storm, with 70 mph winds, packed a punch and dumped nearly a foot of rain in some sections of North Carolina. Some neighborhoods in Beaufort County were submerged in up to five feet of flood water. Rescue teams have been pulling residents from their homes by boats. Storm surge appears to be a big problem and the National Weather Service issued alerts of life-threatening conditions along the beaches.
