"Rednecks with Paychecks" Lend a Helping Hand in Texas

By Caleb Parke (@calebparke)

You know what they say - everything's bigger in Texas - and this story shows that's exactly how Texans roll.

They call themselves "Rednecks with Paychecks" or RWP and they've gone to Houston and the surrounding areas to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey.

In the video above, RWP commented, "The Rednecks with Paychecks Houston Relief Convoy made the Weather Channel helping out the National Guard!"

The full 11-minute video is on the right.

Rednecks with Paychecks is a massive offroad event held in North Texas, about a 5-hour drive from Houston. They have mud races and all kinds of special events.

The group started a gofundme page to raise money for their rescue efforts: RWP Houston Relief Convoy.

RWP responded to Houston public officials calling for citizens with boats and high-water vehicles to help with rescues

"We need your help," officials said, as reported by KHOU.com.

And RWP got their troops together and recruited anyone that could help. They sent out this message on their Facebook page, Monday:

"CALLING ALL REDNECKS! HOUSTON NEEDS YOUR HELP! Share this with everyone you know and let's save some lives!"

And RWP got that help. "The outpouring of support and donations has been amazing," they wrote on their Facebook page, "So many great people quickly moved to help us get to those affected by Harvey."

There are several videos of them aiding in rescue operations and distributing food during the flooding, as well as people videoing their offroad envoy when they were en route to Houston.

Hats off to the Rednecks with Paychecks for their selfless, heroic efforts helping your fellow Texans in the midst of tragic circumstances.

RWP, you guys are American heroes.
