California Governor Gavin Newsom said Tuesday the coronavirus pandemic will end but his state is “not going back to normal.”

The Democratic governor, who is facing a massive recall effort for his handling of COVID-19, made the stunning admission during his “State of the State” address.

“When this pandemic ends — and it will end soon — we’re not going back to normal. Normal was never good enough. Normal accepts inequity,” Newsom said.

Nationally syndicated radio host Todd Starnes hit the embattled governor for his shocking claim Wednesday.

“He’s talking about redoing the way they live their lives in California,” he said on the Todd Starnes Radio Show.

“This is all about socialism,” Starnes said. “This is not about the pandemic. This is about conditioning the American people to accept socialism.”

Republican gubernatorial candidate Kevin Faulconer, the former mayor of San Diego, slammed Newsom on “Fox & Friends” Wednesday.

“What we had, again, was more word salad and a lot of rhetoric,” Faulconer said of the address. “And really, unfortunately, in California, we have a governor that is botching the basics. That’s why you’re seeing this recall continue to grow with so much strength.”

Recall Gavin Newsom, the organization behind the effort, has collected over 2 million unverified signatures ahead of the March 17 deadline. The group needs a total of 1.5 million verified signatures for the recall effort to move forward.
