Video, which you can watch below, shows one of the two robbers jumping over the counter to confront Johnny Nguyen inside the Smokestrom Smoke Shop.

“I was scared for my life,” Nguyen told The New York Post on Friday. “When they came in, one of them had a bag in front of him like he had a firearm or something. I didn’t have much time to think. I grabbed my knife right next to the register.”

Should store owners have the right to defend their property?

The store owner tried to de-escalate the situation, but the robbers persisted.

“I asked them first nicely to leave but the guy took my tip jar, which was fine,” Nguyen said. “When they came back and tried to take some more, that’s when it escalated.”

Surveillance footage shows one of the suspects jumping over the counter and trying to grab some products off the shelf.

“The whole time I was a little bit nervous because obviously I was getting robbed,” said Johnny Nguyen.

Video shows that he grabbed a three-inch blade and stabbed the masked bandit seven times.

“Stop, please! I’m dead! I’m dead,” the would-be robber said as he collapsed to the ground.

“I was in a fight or flight mode… a lot of adrenaline going through my body,” Nguyen shared. Nguyen called the police immediately after stabbing the would-be robber.

It was just the latest example of exasperated store owners fighting back against robbers. Most recently, a California shopkeeper blasted the arm off a gunman during a botched robbery. Click here to see the video.

“Small business owners like us, this is our livelihood,” Nguyen told The Post. “Not only are they threatening our lives, but our livelihood, so we have to stay vigilant.”

Nguyen told Fox 5 in Las Vegas that he plans to get a gun for the store in case someone tries to rob his store again.

“I don’t know who their friends with, maybe they want to come back and do something else, so I just must stay vigilant,” Nguyen stated.

Good for the shopkeeper for being prepared — but a handgun would’ve been much more efficient.
