The incident took place at West Brook High School in Beaumont, Texas.
In the videos, one student clearly kicks, punches and slams the other’s head into the bathroom wall. Students observing the event can be heard in the room but no one expresses any concern or attempts to help the defenseless student.
The offending student has allegedly been arrested before and was released back into the school system very quickly.
Parents: Time to wake up. This is not this kids first criminal activity. Too often schools are simply ignoring or excusing these violent attacks.— Ryan Petty (@rpetty) September 13, 2022

“This is not his first rodeo,” Beaumont City Councilman Mike Getz said of the offending student, per a local Beaumont area news outlet. “He has been arrested before, but current state and federal law allow these offenders back on campus after a relatively short stay at a juvenile detention facility.”

Getz added that the school system failed the student who was assaulted by not providing him a safe learning environment.
The local Beaumont area news station also reported the offending student has been arrested and all students in the video have been identified in the investigation.
The Jefferson County District Attorney’s office responded to the situation.

The Beaumont ISD police and administration investigated the content of the videos and identified all students participating in the physical altercation. Disciplinary actions have been taken to the fullest extent. The district will continue working to ensure that this type of behavior does not occur on any campus.”
