A Virginia library displayed the Bible next to a book featuring pedophilia which has been protested by parents in the county.
Dolley Madison Library in Fairfax County, Virginia, placed “Gender Queer” and “Lawn Boy,” two books filled with pedophilia and obscene material, next to the Bible as part of a “holiday reading display,” according to Fox News.
Parents were outraged, calling the library to take down the display.
One parent, Stacy Langton, a Fairfax County mother, posted photos of the display to Twitter Tuesday.
“At #FairfaxCounty Dolley Madison Library mocks my efforts to remove #PornInSchools and mocks Christianity!” she wrote. “These are YOUR taxpayer dollars, Virginia!”
After posting the photos to social media Tuesday morning, the library removed the controversial display, Fox News reported.
“The Dolley Madison Library holiday reading display was intended to highlight the freedom to read and the fact that many library patrons have more time during the holidays to do so,” the library told Fox News in a statement. “It was not the intention of staff to create a display that could be construed as offensive. The display has been removed.”
