A Grammy Award-winning worship collective announced it is dropping a popular Christian artist due to “behavior that is inconsistent with our core values and beliefs.”

Maverick City Music made the announcement Tuesday via Instagram about Dante Bowe.
“Due to behavior that is inconsistent with our core values and beliefs, we have decided to put a pause on our professional relationship with Dante Bowe,” the group wrote in a statement.
“Decisions like these are not easy because of the level of nuance, both professionally and personally, but we felt it necessary to address,” they added.

Leaving out the specific incidents or details, they said, “Dante is a brother in Christ and as such he has our full commitment and unwavering support as he continues to navigate his path forward.”
Bowe, who has received backlash for supporting some vulgar secular artists, announced he is taking a break from social media.

“In light of recent events and opinions, I’ve talked to some of the wisest leaders and brothers around me. I’ll be taking time off social media to rest mentally and physically,” the “God Really Loves Us” singer said in a statement.
“Years ago, when I dreamt of all I would accomplish one day, I didn’t account for the pressure and opinions that would come with it. It’s important for everyone to know when to step back and refocus. Hope y’all understand and support. I’ll hit you up when I’m back,” he added.

Christian Post reporter Jeannie Ortega Law detailed what could be part of the backlash.
“Most recently, he was scrutinized for sharing a video of himself inside of a party bus listening to secular artist Bad Bunny and dancing to a song with overtly sexual lyrics. During the Grammys, he also raised eyebrows for saying he hoped to see openly gay rapper Lil Nas X perform at the award show,” she wrote.
On Wednesday, Maverick City Music added, “We are in full support of Dante as he continues his journey towards health and happiness. Our ethos has always and will always be centered on family. We are all imperfect people who need a perfect Savior. Dante is a part of our family and will always be.”
