A liberal CNN host admitted he is confused why President Biden is not more popular with the American people.
Fareed Zakaria, CNN host and Washington Post columnist, made confession Thursday in a WaPo op-ed titled, “The puzzle of Joe Biden’s unpopularity.”
He praised Biden for handling his job with “intelligence” and “decency,” adding “but he is paying the price for the complicated times we’re living through.”
“I find President Biden’s unpopularity puzzling,” Zakaria wrote. “He is rounding out his first year in the White House with the lowest end of first-year approval ratings of any elected president in modern times with the exception of Donald Trump. Why?”
The liberal commentator called Biden a “genial, likable person” with popular policies. He said the country is doing “reasonably well” economically, despite record inflation, supply chain crisis, and a labor shortage.
Zakaria blames Biden’s low numbers on the new coronavirus variants, his “lack of political capital,” the failed withdrawal in Afghanistan, among other things.
“The best summary of the current situation would be ‘it’s complicated,'” Zakaria concluded.
Now do Kamala Harris, the vice president with the lowest approval rating in history.
