CDC Director Rochelle Walensky refuted claims made by Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor that more than 100,000 children are hospitalized with the China Virus and that many are on ventilators.

“We have over 100,000 children, which we’ve never had before, in serious condition and many on ventilators,” Sotomayor said Friday during arguments over OSHA’s China virus mandates.

Those claims are not true, Walensky declared on Fox News Sunday.

“While pediatric hospitalizations are rising, they are still about 15-fold less than hospitalizations of our older age demographics,” she said.

Walensky went on say that there are fewer than 3,500 children in hospitals with the China Virus. And she went on to tell Fox News that she believes “many hospitals do not have any vaccinated children on ventilators.”

The Washington Post issued a scathing rebuke of Sotomayor, accusing her of “going off the rails.”

“That’s wildly incorrect, assuming she is referring to hospitalizations, given the reference to ventilators,” the Post reported. “According to HHS data, as of Jan. 8 there are about 5,000 children hospitalized in a pediatric bed, either with suspected covid or a confirmed laboratory test. This figure includes patients in observation beds. So Sotomayor’s number is at least 20 times higher than reality, even before you determine how many are in ‘serious condition.'”

The Post, citing CDC data, further reported that there have been far less than 100,000 pediatric hospital admissions since August 1, 2020.

“It’s important for Supreme Court justices to make rulings based on correct data. There has been a spike in pediatric cases with covid, even if the omicron variant appears less deadly. But Sotomayor during an oral argument offered a figure — 100,000 children in “serious condition … many on ventilators” — that is absurdly high. She earns Four Pinocchios,” the Post reported.

Judicial Watch founder Tom Fitton was among many in the legal community to call out Sotomayor’s factually-challenged statement.

“If left uncorrected, Judge Sotomayor’s wildly inaccurate statement about children and Covid will undermine public confidence in the integrity and diligence of the Court. The Supreme Court, or Justice Sotomayor herself, should issue an immediate correction,” Fitton said.

It’s possible that Justice Sotomayor was simply ignorant of the facts. But there is also the possibility that she could’ve been working off talking points from the Patron Saint of Wuhan and was caught intentionally trying to deceive the American people and her fellow justices.

Either way, it should be a disqualifying moment for Justice Sotomayor and she should be removed from the highest court in the land.
