Five-year-olds will now have to show a vaccine passport if they want to get a Happy Meal from McDonald’s in New York City.
Mayor Bill De Blasio announced that all children must carry vaccine passports. He also announced that all private-sector employees must be vaccinated.
The mayor says it’s a pre-emptive strike against the new Omicron variant – what he did not say is that not a single person has died from the new variant. The symptoms are similar to having a bad cold or the flu.
This marks the first time any city in the nation has forced privately owned businesses to mandate vaccines.
Businesses that fail to comply face fines as much as $14,000 per violation – along with court citations.
This is nothing more than a flagrant 1984-style power grab.
No doubt De Blasio’s rule will face a legal challenge – but it should serve as a warning to the rest of the nation. It won’t be long before they target your kid’s Happy Meal, too.
