BREAKING: Pelosi Will Not Seek Dem Leadership After GOP Takeover

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) will not seek re-election as the Democrat’s leader in the next Congress.

Following the GOP takeover of the House, the 82-year-old soon-to-be former House speaker made the announcement to her colleagues from the congressional floor Thursday.

“With great confidence in our caucus, I will not seek re-election to Democratic leadership in the next Congress,” Pelosi said.

“For me, the hour has come for a new generation to lead the Democratic caucus that I so deeply respect,” she added.

Pelosi did not say who should replace her as House minority leader, but national radio host Todd Starnes said he thinks it will be progressive “Squad” member, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).

“My money is on AOC. The Democrat Party will get radicalized quickly,” Starnes said.

The San Fransisco representative from a Maryland political family first held leadership in 2003 as the Democrats’ minority leader.

She served as Speaker of the House twice: from 2007 to 2011 and then from 2019 until now.

Pelosi infamously tore up Trump’s State of the Union speech and has garnered a reputation of keeping Democrats in line with the party.
