Democrat Rep Labels Married Mom and Dad ‘Dangerous’ for Kids, ‘Un-American’

A Democrat state representative told her Twitter followers that it is “dangerous” and “un-American” to believe that children are safest in a home with a married mom and dad.

“Extremist group Family Heritage Alliance said this morning that the safest place for kids are in families that have a married mom and dad. What a dangerous and un-American belief,” South Dakota State Rep. Erin Healy (D) wrote on Twitter Monday.

Do Democrats want to get rid of the nuclear family?

The Family Heritage Alliance is a Christian group that advocates for life, family values and religious freedom in South Dakota. The organization works with local churches to educate the public on issues that matter. Additionally, they work to advance public policy that promotes faith, family and freedom.

Healy’s tweet sparked major backlash on Twitter, causing her to restrict who could reply to it. Even so, the representative was slammed by conservatives on the social media platform.

Political analyst Michael Quinn Sullivan called Healy a “moron” for her comment.

“This is Erin. She is a moron,” Sullivan wrote.

Starnes Media Group managing editor Caleb Parke shared the post with his Twitter followers, pointing out that her beliefs about family make it obvious that Healy is a Democrat.

“This is an actual elected official in the United States of America,” Parke wrote. “I should add, a Democrat, but you already knew that.”

Jay W. Richards, a senior research fellow at the Heritage Foundation, implied Healy must live in an “echo chamber” if she felt comfortable posting the controversial tweet.

“This is well established, uncontroversial, and obviously not un-American to believe. How sealed does one’s echo chamber have to be to tweet something like this?” Richards wrote.
