While covering Thursday night’s theatrical Jan. 6 Committee Hearing with anchors Shannon Bream and Martha MacCallum, Fox host Bret Baier assessed that former President Donald Trump “looks really bad” in light of the evidence in the presentation.
“He’s just kinda watching the TVs and kinda applauding what’s happening,” Baier said.
The Fox host also called attention to a quote from Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WYO) where she repeats that Trump allegedly said, “maybe our supporters have the right idea, Mike Pence deserves it,” in response to chants from the crowd calling the Vice President to be hanged.
While Baier’s comments about the former president were largely negative, he did point out the bias on the part of the legislators and what information they chose to present. During the broadcast, the Fox hosts played a clip from Trump’s speech outside of the Capitol on Jan. 6.
“I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol Building,” the former President said. “to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.”
After playing the clip, Baier noted that the committee was selective in choosing cuts from Trump’s speech.
“They didn’t air that part,” Baier remarked “They didn’t air the peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard. They cut it short of that.”
Baier also noted that the Proud Boys and other militant did not stop to hear the former President’s speech before entering the capital, which he claimed, “took away from that they were motived by the President speaking.”
