The new vote could pave the way for former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who was defeated after a 12-year rule, to return.
Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Israel’s foreign minister agreed to submit a bill to dissolve Parliament just weeks ahead of President Biden’s visit.
Bennet, who will be replaced by Foreign Minister Yair Lapid, called it “the right decision for Israel” during a news conference Monday.
The election is expected to be held in October or November, the Jewish State’s fifth in three years.
