New York Attorney General Letitia James filed a lawsuit against former President Trump and his kids Wednesday alleging fraud in the family real estate business, the New York Post reports.
“The complaint demonstrates that Donald Trump falsely inflated his net worth by billions of dollars to unjustly enrich himself and to cheat the system, thereby cheating all of us,” the anti-Trump attorney general said in a press conference.

James, who has been investigating Trump Organization for the past three years, filed a civil lawsuit in the State Supreme Court in Manhatten seeking around $250 million judgment with a prohibition on any of the Trumps — Donald Trump, Jr., Eric Trump, and Ivanka Trump — from leading a company in New York state.

Federal prosecutors could open a criminal investigation into bank fraud, according to the lawsuit.
In addition to Trump and his kids, the lawsuit also names the company and two executives, Allan Weisselberg and Jeff McConney, ABC News reports.
Trump has previously denied wrongdoing and slammed James as a “racist” engaging in a politically-motivated “witch hunt.”

“Today’s filing is neither focused on the facts nor the law — rather, it is solely focused on advancing the Attorney General’s political agenda,” Trump attorney Alina Habba said in a statement Wednesday. “It is abundantly clear that the Attorney General’s Office has exceeded its statutory authority by prying into transactions where absolutely no wrongdoing has taken place. We are confident that our judicial system will not stand for this unchecked abuse of authority, and we look forward to defending our client against each and every one of the Attorney General’s meritless claims.”
The Trump War Room tweeted a clip of James campaigning against “this illegitimate president,” referring to Trump.

When New York Attorney General Letitia James ran in 2018, she called Trump an “illegitimate president,” promised to be a “pain in his ass,” said Trump was “fueling her soul,” said “I look forward every day to suing Trump.”
