A recent Politico poll showed that more Americans want former President Trump to run in 2024 than President Biden.
The survey results revealed that 35 percent of registered voters would like to see the former president run while only 29 percent said the same for Biden.
While the poll highlights just how low Biden’s support is among Americans, the results are not a total victory for Trump.
48 percent of those surveyed answered that Trump should “definitely not” seek the presidency again while slightly less, 46 percent of respondents, answered the same way about Biden.
The poll indicated that both candidates are not very popular among potential 2024 voters.
Overall, 61 percent said no to Trump running again and 64 percent said the same about Biden.
The poll comes as the U.S. faces record breaking inflation and energy costs while Biden’s approval rating falls below 39 percent.
Further, speculation is increasing among prominent Democrats and the left wing mainstream media about whether Biden should run again in 2024.
“The presidency is a monstrously taxing job and the stark reality is the president would be closer to 90 than 80 at the end of a second term, and that would be a major issue,” David Axelrod, Barrack Obama’s former chief strategist said in a June report by the New York Times highlighting Biden’s abysmal support.
Additionally, CNN’s Don Lemon made headlines when he asked White House Press Secretary Karrine Jeanne-Pierre about the president’s mental fitness and if he should run again.
Responding to criticism about the line of questioning, Lemon said, “he has trouble sometimes connecting and his answers sometimes don’t make sense.”
Biden and his staff continue to insist that the president will run again in 2024.
