Should Republicans boycott Biden's SOTU speech?

Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) told the Todd Starnes Show Tuesday he won’t participate in House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s “sham.”

When host Todd Starnes asked the Texas congressman if he was attending, Roy said, “I am not.”

“I’m not going to participate in that sham,” Roy responded. “It’s all a show to try to make Joe Biden look presidential while giving the Democrats a hall pass for all of the pain they’ve inflicted on the American people over the last two years.”

“Look, this is all a show. It’s all theater. They’ve got a fence up around the Capitol. The Americans can’t go visit their congressmen, can’t go to the Capitol, and they’re requiring members of Congress to get tested,” he added. “They continue this theater, and now they’re trying to get out from under the mess they created, harming the American people.”

Rep. Jody Hice (R-GA), who is running for secretary of state in Georgia, told Starnes he plans to watch the speech, but not in the chambers with Biden and Pelosi.

“They’re requiring tests. They’re are requiring all sorts of stuff to get in, and I’m just not going to participate,” Hice said. “And the fact that they are not allowing the American people to join us in the gallery, we’re not allowed to bring guests… It’s just a horrible thing.”

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) is another who plans to boycott Biden’s speech.

“For the first time in American history you now have people having to produce paper to go in somewhere, to sit somewhere, to go to the State of the Union,” Rubio told the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) Friday.

“You’ve got to show them I’m vaccinated, I took a test yesterday, they took my temperature, you know, all this stuff,” he added. “This is, what’s happening now in America, is what happens after 20 years of infusing this Marxist thought process into every aspect of our lives and now we’ve come face-to-face with it.”

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) said he is skipping over the testing requirement.

“I’m healthy, so I won’t be taking a test for COVID… so I won’t be attending the #SOTU,” Massie tweeted.

Rep. Mary Miller (R-IL) announced she is boycotting the speech “on behalf of the American people who were fired because Joe Biden’s White House strong-armed private employers to institute illegal vaccine mandates.”

Rep. Matt Rosendale (R-MT) slammed Pelosi for “politicizing the SOTU to further the Radical Left’s COVID-19 agenda.”

“Members of Congress should not be subject to COVID-19 restrictions when the rest of the country has ended most mandates,” Rosendale added. “No one is listening to you anymore, Nancy.”

Others include Reps. Andrew Clyde (R-GA) and Bob Good (R-VA), according to the Daily Caller.
