Virginia Lt. Gov. Winsome Sears (R) called former President Trump a “liability” to the Republican Party Thursday.
“A true leader understands it’s time to step off the stage and the voters have given us that very clear message,” Sears told Fox Business.
Host Neil Cavuto asked her if she would endorse Trump for 2024.
“I could not support him, I just couldn’t,” she said.
The news came as a shock to many as she previously served as the chair of “Black Americans to Re-elect President Trump.”

Rich Meagher, a Richmond-based political analyst for 8News, called it a surprise.
“It was definitely a surprise today to hear her make those comments,” said Meagher. “Is this a bold politician coming out and making a principled stand against a popular figure in their party or is this a political operator looking ahead to her political future and starting to move chess pieces around the board?”
Her comments came before Trump accused Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin of having a last name that sounds “Chinese” on Truth Social.
