Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) says he plans on boycotting the National Football League after owners directed players to either stand for the national anthem or stay inside the locker room.
“I won’t be watching this NFL season because of the unfair cowardly and idiotic kneeling ban,” Ellison declared on Twitter.
The NFL’s new policy states that players who protest during the national anthem will be penalized.
President Trump has been leading the charge against the anti-American protests — arguing since last year that players who disrespect the anthem should be fired. Last week, he praised the NFL’s new rules during an appearance on Fox News Channel.
“I think that’s good. I don’t think people should be staying in the locker rooms, but still, I think it’s good. You have to stand proudly for the national anthem,” Trump said.
The president enraged the Mainstream Media and the Far Left when he hinted that anti-American football players might be happier living in another country.
“You shouldn’t be playing, you shouldn’t be there. Maybe they shouldn’t be in the country,” he said.
Just about every business I know has a code of conduct. There are rules and regulations. The owners of the company set the policies and the workers are expected to follow the policies.
Now the Mainstream Media and Rep. Ellison would have you believe the battle over the national anthem and the NFL is a First Amendment issue.
But it’s really not. It’s a work place issue.
The National Football League is a business — the players are the workers – the football field is their workplace.
The rule is – either stand and respect the Star Spangled Banner or hide in the locker room like a bunch of cowards. That’s the rule.
And if the players cannot follow the rules — perhaps they should find some other line of work.
And if they find our anthem and our flag and our military so repulsive – if they are disgusted by the American way of life – maybe they should consider President Trump’s suggestion — and find some other country to live in.
Friends who know me, know that I love football. But I won’t be watching this NFL season because of the unfair cowardly and idiotic kneeling ban. #BoycottNFL
