The folks in charge of NBC’s Saturday Night Live thought it would be a good idea to crack a few jokes at the expense of a wounded American war hero. Just let that sickening thought sink in for a moment.
SNL cast member Pete Davidson showed an image of Dan Crenshaw, a Republican running for the second congressional district in Teas.
Crenshaw lost his eye when an IED exploded during a deployment to Afghanistan in 2012. The retired Navy SEAL’s left eye was badly damaged.
“You may be surprised to hear he’s a congressional candidate for Texas and not a hit-man in a porno movie,” Davidson said during the “Weekend Update.”
Even more disgusting was the audience’s reaction. They laughed and cheered and the so-called comedian continued his mockery.
“I’m sorry. I know he lost his eye in war — or whatever,” Davidson said.
Mr. Crenshaw is an American war hero who sacrificed his eye sight for our freedom. He should be honored and celebrated, not ridiculed by a second-rate jokester.
The National Republican Congressional Committee released a statement on Sunday condemning Davidson and NBC.
“Getting dumped by your pop star girlfriend is no excuse for lashing out at a decorated war hero who lost his eye serving our country. Pete Davidson and NBC should immediately apologize to Dan, and to the millions of veterans and military families who tune in every weekend – because they’re not laughing,” NRCC Spokesman Jack Pandol said.
To honor Mr. Crenshaw’s sacrifice, I want to encourage you to support an incredible program started by Franklin Graham that provides support to our wounded warriors.
