NYPD Should Pull Out of Neighborhoods Where They are Disrespected

A viral video of New York City police officers being hit with objects and drenched with water has a lot of people infuriated, including a former U.S. Navy Seal.

“It’s terrible,” said Navy Seal, FBI Special Agent and author Jonathan T. Gilliam on The Todd Starnes Show. ““That says everything that you need to know about what’s happened in this country.”

“This did not happen just overnight,” said Starnes, referring to the anti-police movement. “This is something that has happened really over the past I would say decade.”

Gilliam agreed, saying there was a time after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks when “everybody respected cops.” Since that time, Gilliam said issues have been inflamed by politicians, law enforcement executives and community activists.

“I think also that law enforcement was afraid to turn around and react to guys throwing water at them, saying, ‘The news is going to pick it up and say they got in a tussle with somebody because they threw water on them,’ and then these community activists, these politicians, and these police executives are going to turn around a hammer them,” he continued.

Gilliam said police across the nation should take immediate action to denounce the attacks and send a message to the anti-police mob. He suggested police officers across the country should not show up to work as a way of protesting how they’re being treated.

“It has to be done on a massive scale so people don’t lose their jobs,” he added.

“I think this is a great idea,” replied Starnes. “It is time for community leaders to step up and stand alongside the police officers. Pull out of the neighborhoods where they are disrespected and let the local thugs patrol the streets.”
