An angry mob of students rattled by the idea of free speech tried to disrupt a speech delivered by Ben Shapiro at Ohio State University. The rampaging snowflakes were unsuccessful in their efforts.
The youngsters chanted, “John McCain is dead” and “Reagan is dead” and “F*** Ben Shapiro.”
The lecture, sponsored by Young America’s Foundation, went off without a hitch. Emily Jashinsky, of The Federalist, wrote a terrific account of the chaos.
However, the university was deeply concerned that students who were exposed to Shapiro’s conservative ideas might suffer some sort of psychotic break.
“Shapiro’s rhetoric has the potential to threaten the emotional and mental safety of much of the campus community,” read an email posted by the Morrill Scholars Program Student Advisory Council.
Among their complaints is that Shapiro believes “no one should address a person by the pronouns they have chosen for themselves.”
The literally urged students to evacuate to a designated safe space.
“We encourage you to seek a safe environment for yourself,” the council warned students. “Knowing the hostile environment that can result from these kind of events, we encourage you to seek an inclusive environment and reach out to talk with someone.”
We reached out to Ohio State to find out how many students were forced to evacuate to a safe space because they did not have the mental capacity to tolerate opposing viewpoints. The university did not return my calls.

Why are students yelling “Long Live the Intifada” at a @benshapiro speaking event at @ohiostate?
Prior to Shapiro’s speech, OSU sent out an email to its students about providing a “safe space” for students who feel threatened by “Shapiro’s rhetoric.” Is this safe, OSU?? pic.twitter.com/G8YGbZKQWW
