The No. 1-ranked college football recruit, Arch Manning, the grandson of Archie Manning and nephew of Peyton and Eli, made his highly anticipated commitment announcement.
“Committed to the University of Texas. #HookEm,” Manning tweeted Thursday.
After receiving offers at schools with some of the best football programs in the country, Manning announced his plan to join the Longhorns as a quarterback.
Manning received offers from Georgia, Alabama and Clemson according to Fox News.

The announcement has gained a lot of attention from college football fans. Within hours of releasing the news, Archie Manning is trending on Twitter.
Many are optimistic about the 18 year-old’s future career. In a profile about Manning, Sports Illustrated speculated that he could become the best quarterback in the family.

Dave Portnoy Tweeted the announcement and commented, “This is awesome for college football and anybody who says otherwise is a liar.”
Days before the announcement, Will Randle, a teammate of Manning also announced his commitment to University of Texas.
