CNN’s Joe Lockhart is being called out for spreading fake news that he later labeled as “satire.”
“Overheard convo between two Republicans Senators who only watch Fox News,” he wrote on Twitter. “‘Is this real stuff? I haven’t heard any of this before. I thought it was all about a server. If half the stuff Schiff is saying is true, we’re up shit’s creek. Hope the White House has exculpatory evidence.”
There’s just one big gaping hole in that tweet — it’s not true.
Lockhart, who hosts a podcast titled “Words Matter,” faced a storm of criticism online and later admitted that he had made up the conversation.
“This is satire,” he wrote. “Satire to make the point that Senators that are deciding the President’s fate who only watch Fox News have never heard this stuff before. Because Fox is part of the coverup.”
No sir. That’s called a lie.
Sen. Martha McSally (R-AZ) was right when she called a CNN reporter a “leftist hack.” Turns out — they’re also liars.
