Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer officially announced his retirement Thursday in a letter to President Biden.
“I have decided to retire from regular active judicial service,” Breyer wrote in part, adding that it will take effect at the end of the court’s term if “my successor has been nominated and confirmed.”
