Stacey Abrams, the Georgia Democrat gubernatorial candidate, dodged a question on ABC’s The View about whether she would endorse the confiscation of guns owned by private citizens.
“I do not believe that weapons of mass destruction like the AR-15 belong in civilian hands,” the Georgia Democrat said. “I think they should be prohibited for civilian use.”
Meghan McCain pushed back and asked whether that meant Abrams would endorse a gun grab.
“I appreciate your honesty and I assume that by banning it you would be rounding it up? It’s the most popular gun in America – around 61 percent of all rifle sales,” McCain said. “Would you be rounding it up from citizens in Georgia that own it?”
Abrams did not directly answer the question.
“We have had a ban on assault weapons before in the United States and I think we should do it again,” she said.
Be wary, Georgia voters.
