Terror: Republican Effigy Hung From Tree in Tennessee
Republicans in Bedford County, Tennessee are deeply concerned and disturbed after someone hung a political effigy from a tree.
Billy Grimes posted an image of the effigy that was hung about a mile from his home.
“It was very disturbing to see a human-like object hanging from a tree,” Grimes told Fox 17 in Nashville. “It’s an intimidating message they’re sending.”
The image included an oversized noose around its neck, a Klan-style hat, the word “GOP” and defaced campaign signs for Rep. Marsha Blackburn.
“Using an effigy of lynching GOP members is nothing short of a projection of Klan tactics,” Grimes wrote on his Facebook page. “This is very disturbing knowing the dark history of lynching in the South.”
