The wife of Republican congressional candidate Mark Harris was accosted by two angry female leftists following a contentious debate in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Harris said on the Todd Starnes Radio Show that his wife Beth was cornered by one person armed with a video camera and another peppering her with questions about abortion and women’s rights.
“It became very apparent they were there with a mission and a purpose to try to harass,” Harris said on the radio program. “She was strong enough to walk away but it was obviously a scene they were trying to create.”
Harris said members of his campaign staff were able to safely extract her from the confrontation.
“We’ve lost the ability to have a civilized conversation about political issues,” Harris said.
The incident happened after an ugly debate between Harris and his Democrat rival – Dan McCready.
McCready’s campaign has been using Harris’ sermons out of context to attack the Southern Baptist minister. It’s a risky move considering the number of Southern Baptist voters in North Carolina who share Harris’ views on the Bible.
“We’re not talking about the issues anymore – like jobs, the economy or taxes,” Harris said. “They would rather pull us off track and go after personal smear campaigns.”
Clearly, the followers of Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, Barack Obama, Eric Holder and Maxine Waters are no longer satisfied with targeting conservative candidates. Now, they are going after their spouses.
